Made this Kitchen Gnome card to put in Kitchen Remodel Time Capsule Envelope.
We are remodeling our 1978 yellow counter/backsplash kitchen. We have been wanting to do this for a longgg time.
We cked out several kitchen remodeling companies and the custom kitchen remodel companies were not want we wanted. Reason we did not want custom kitchen company was because they told us they would do the entire job and we could not choose outside contractors and it would cost us much more for custom cabinets, etc.
Instead we chose Home Depot. Started the design/paperwork Nov last yr, 2020.
Hubby did the design/layout which moved some appliances, changed some appliances & even included an L-shaped peninsula for the Keurig, electric tea kettle, etc.
Ordered Kraft Maid cabinets that are made in the USA.
Hubby started ordering new appliances: dishwasher (former dishwasher was original to house that had yellow front and also black which is what we had showing since all our appliances are black), sink & faucet (both black, drop in sink with board/drain area), and gas cooktop (had electric surface cooktop). Appliances arrived before cabinets.
Reserved a POD storage to hold the cabinets in until installed.
Cabinets were delivered Fri Mar 25.
Mon Mar 28 Home Depot crew cked in the cabinets and began kitchen demolish. After Day 1 all cabinets were removed. Left for Day 2 was the area above the former cabinets near ceiling (new cabinets were going all the way to ceiling) and 1 piece of wainscotting panel. Tues Mar 29 demolish was complete. Was pleasantly surprised that them telling us demolish would take 1-2 days took 1 1/2 days.
Gas/plumber came out Wed Mar 30 to access what add'l parts (hubby bought most of the parts and cost was less this way) if any were needed for gas cooktop and water for refrig.
Electrician came out Thurs morn Mar 31 and completed the work of 2 new dedicated lines (one for the microwave on shelf of cabinet to right of gas cooktop where the double oven was and one for double oven (that was moving to opposite wall).
Gas/plumber crew came out Thurs afternoon Mar 31 and added gas line for new gas cooktop (replacing electric cooktop) and water for refrig (that was moving to the left on same wall). Test of gas pressure at outside meter detected a leak when 3 lbs of pressure are put thru and needle dropped to 2 1/2 and continued to drop rapidly instead of holding steady. they corrected the problem when they found that leak was next to meter.
Made a Kitchen Remodel Time Capsule Envelope & this card is inside. Put items in a padded envelope, put envelope in a Ziploc bag and put it all in the wall down below where there will be drawers and the cooktop would be above it. Found a recipe card, Tomato Soup Cake, that must have fallen behind the backsplash. Not sure if I will make this recipe but will scrapbook it.
Hubby this weekend added batting insulation & sheetrock where needed. I'm going to paint walls white.
Mon Apr 4 gas crew will come out and put on pressure test. Mon Apr 4 after gas crew puts on pressure test City will come out to verify pressure test. Gas crew will return once they are notified that pressure test was approved and permit signed.
Mon Apr 4 Home Depot crew will return to start install of cabinets.
Thurs Apr 7 quartz countertop crew will come out to cut the quartz templates for sink & cooktop and install the countertop.
So, we will have a new kitchen end of this coming wk if all goes as planned.
We will decide on backsplash & flooring.
I will update this post with before & after kitchen remodel pictures.
