Winslow AZ Scrapbook Layout

Put a lot of work into creating this 12" x 12" scrapbook layout using a 5" x 7" photo of my hubby & I photographed in Winslow, AZ with wonderful rock background.

Used a Close To My Heart scrapbook kit I had won some time ago for layout design (has 2 designs). Used CTMH scrapbook kit: cardstock, gems & cactus flower stamp. Fussy cut out the flowers for AZ State flowers Saguaro on the cactus. Used a couple Cricut cartridges. Used Tim Holtz dies, Distress Ink & Distress stickles.

AZ State shape is my journal tag in which I'll calligraphy 'Winslow, AZ' and date '7/24/15.' 

Thinking of adding a burlap heart next to the cactus I cut using TH thinlits heart die since I think there needs to be something more there.

The crocheted cactus was made by a friend yrs ago.

I'm wearing a Del Sol AZ tshirt that hubby had got for me when he was in Phoenix, AZ on business some time ago. I like the Del Sol brand and for those that may not know about them; when exposed to sunlight the white & black changes to colors which in this photo is not easily seen.

Took Daisy to Dog Park this morning early and I mowed the backyard. Yes, I've been a bzzz bee. Hubby is mowing the front yard & will weed wack. It is easier for me to mow the backyard as than the frontyard. 

Have to brag a bit about good news I have. Hubby & I have paid our home mortgage off. We had been paying addl principal for awhile in order to pay it off. Well, to payoff mortgage at least with our morgage company, PNC Mortgage, you have to request to payoff which you can do by email. I emailed 8/3/15 that we wanted to pay off our mortgage by 8/31/15. Then company postal mails you the payoff amount which we knew by looking online but they also add a recording fee of $22. They indicate that you can pay by cashier ck or wire transfer. Rcvd the postal Wire transfer was more complicated than I wanted to deal with so I got a cashier ck. Our credit union charges a $5 fee for cashier cks. Mailed the cashier ck Priority Mail 8/11/15 with expected delivery 8/13/15 which is when it did indeed arrive. The ck was cashed & recorded 8/13/15 so we are paid in full. Next step is that after 60 days we can contact our County and find out if they mail or if we have to pick up deed to our house in person.

Now onto the scrapbook layout.

Spring in TX means BlueBonnets Bday Card

Spring in TX means BlueBonnets. I have BlueBonnets growing in my backyard & you can see the photos below. The BlueBonnets are growing under our Mini Magnolia Tree. Daisy posed with bunny ears for an Easter photo. The Bees like the BlueBonnets and it is great to see & photograph them.

I'm still getting familiar with the new Cricut Explore and made this card with inspiration from Mary of Cardz TV who made a Butterfly Card like this.

Stamped the background inside with a BlueBonnet stamp & used Stampin' Up markers.

TX Flag Thanks Gift Card Holder

Hubby & I first discovered the wonderful restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, in OK when we were traveling to go see daughter in college. Then we discovered the one in McKinney, TX which is approx 20 miles N of where we live. I always order the 6 oz Sirloin Medium, loaded sweet potato & green beans. Hubby always orders the 8 oz Sirloin Medium, mushrooms & onions which he shares w/ me, loaded sweet potato & salad Honey Mustard dressing. The rolls w/ the cinnamon butter are wonderful. Now that I've made your mouth water on with the craft creation.

Created this Gift Card Holder using 50 States Cricut cartridge & Gypsy to weld the base together to make the TX Flag. I made the base & stripes 3 1/2" and cut a star at 3 3/4" to fit the stamped sentiment. Stamped the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags sentiment 'Thanks' using the 'Many Thanks' stamp.
