There's a challenge using Straight from the Nest Cricut cartridge and I'm taking you to a Robin Nest.
Created this Robin 12" x 12" scrapbook layout using Robin photos from 2 yrs ago, July 2009. I had the wonderful experience of seeing & photographing a Robin nest in a Mini Teddy Bear (yes the tree was named a Teddy Bear Magnolia Tree) Magnolia Tree in our backyard.
There were 3 bee-utiful blue eggs. I saw the babies after they hatched. I saw the babies with eyes unopened. I saw the babies eyes opened. I saw the babies being fed by Mother & Father Robin. I saw the babies growing up. Luck was with me when I was there for when they the first baby flew out of the nest & 2 days later the other 2 babies flew out.
I stood on a ladder for some of the photos but most were taken a distance away not disturbing the babies or Mother or Father. The Mother & Father were protective but not as mean as BlueJays. The Mini Magnolia Tree is next to our bedroom and so I was able to photograph thru the window without the Mother or Father knowing I was there watching them.

What a fabulous experience! It is just a miracle to see the eggs...and then see the little birds!
ReplyDeleteYour calligraphy looks computer generated. VERY NICE job on the hand lettering!!! It looks much different than what you usually do...did you use a different pen?
I used a calligraphy pen that my daughter gave me that she used in her calligraphy class last year. I've been practicing more with hand calligraphy sentiments. Thanks for noticing.
ReplyDeleteThis is just amazing, Melissa! To be able to watch the birds from egg to flying from the nest is a rare gift! What an incredible experience! And I agree that the sentiment looks fabulous...I thought it was a stamp it is so perfect!! I could practice forever and never get anywhere near that good. I love this layout! I hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend :)

This is so adorable. I love this layout!
ReplyDeleteThis LO is so sweet. Love the sentiment you used. You are so lucky to have experienced such special moments. We always have nests outside our house. As a matter of fact they build them right outside my craft room in the beams for the deck, but I have never been lucky enough to see anything in them:(. And oh you are so right about those blue jays..they are so nasty. They had built a nest and had babies right out of my grandparents house and every time they would go out the front door they would swoop down and peck at them. My poor grandpa was bald and they pecked his head so bad it was bleeding. They eventually had to exit their house with umbrellas in hand to protective themselves. Anytime my family thinks about that story or tells it we can't help but laugh;) Thanks for sharing such a wonderful LO for the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge, and bringing back some memories of my late grandparents.
