Gift Pkg Shaped Thank You Cards

Created these Clean & Simple Gift Pkg Shaped
Thank You Cards to send out to thank for Christmas
gifts & my daughter's birthday (her 20th birthday
was 12/27) gifts. They are similar to the Birthday
Card made & posted on 12/29
Gift Pkg Shaped Birthday Card
but these have a Thank You sentiment tag & no glitter.

Used Life's a Party Cricut cartridge Gift Card option.
Seem to be in my fav color mood of blue & white
. You
can see the light blue since I did not use glitter on these.

Daughter wrote her thank you note on inside right side.
Hubby & I wrote our thank you note and New Year

wishes on inside left side.

Celebrated daughter's 20th birthday 12/27.

In the morn we enjoyed the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Daughter before opening her 20th birthday gifts.
If you look carefully some of you may remember
the easel style birthday card I made awhile ago in

center foreground. Also, she likes Owls so I could
not resist the felt Owl bag that I bought at World
Market and some of you may wonder why I did

not make one myself with my Cricut well this one
was only $2 clearance priced in the after Halloween
sale and it was not even Thanksgiving which is what
the tag indicated it was. The cake box in the center
foreground was given to daughter on a prior birthday
so I made use of it again.

Daughter before she blew out the candles on the
birthday cake I made. Used a Hershey cake recipe
that I had not made before. Cake was fudgy but tasty
nonetheless.

Celebrated daughter's birthday with a friend that she
has known since the 4th grade (they are not boyfriend
girlfriend but best of friends). Had lunch at her fav
Japanese restaurant where she has been going for
many yrs to celebrate her birthday. They photograph
& put it in a folder for you to keep.

Christmas Poinsettia Gift Bag

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Created this Christmas Poinsettia Gift Bag
using the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy
Cricut cartridge & stamp set and a bow ribbon
technique shown on My Pink Stamper. First time
using the CTMH cartridge & stamp set.

Glad I practiced stamping first since I had the
stamp on the block wrong. Did not watch carefully
when I peeled it off the plastic to see which side was
the correct stamping side.

I practiced making the bow using cardstock & paper
like the directions on My Pink Stamper showed but
mine did not look pretty. Decided to try using cut
ribbon pieces & liked the look.

Christmas Cardinal Shaped Card

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I've wanted for some time to make a shaped
Cardinal card. At the time I made the Blue Bird
ornament I did not know there was a Cardinal
image on the Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge
known as Bird1.

Using my Gypsy which I'm still learning to use I
was able to create a 5.5" shaped card creating a
duplicate image, flipping one of the images &
welding option and have the info of the x & y
coordinates to share with you in case you want to
make one. I'm always learn
ing so much from everyone
else's blog with the details that I feel good I can share
something maybe someone has not done before. My
first try did not line up properly and with a couple
adjustments I
got it correct on the 2nd try which is
awesome for me.

I cut the welded image out of white cardstock for
sturdiness & wanted the inside to be white so I could
stamp a sentiment on it. Cut the welded image out of
yellow for the beak & legs to be yellow. Cut the shifted

image out of red for the body. Cut the layer which is the
beak out of core'dinations cardstock that is black on
one side & blue on other for face/eye part.

Used red glitter on the red body. Used yellow glitter on
the beak & legs. Used Enamel accents white on the eye.
Painted the branch with brown paint.

Card shown standing up which can be an ornament on
the Christmas Tree:

Paperback Christmas Tree

Created this Christmas Tree using a paperback
book (a book of course not wanting to read anymore).
This post is picture heavy with instructions & photos
taken along most of the creation way.

Found the holiday project steps in Family Circle
Dec 2011. This was a first time for me making
something like this.

You need a book that has at least 150 pages and
the instructions should have mentioned that you need
a book that is twice the 150 pages since you do not
count front & back of page as 2 pages but instead 1
page. Made one with a book that had 150+ but not

twice that pages so I used it as a test book to practice
the page folding & spray painting on. Hubby gave me

a book titled Stock Market Logic that he longer wanted.
It was a taller book and had enough pages.

As you proceed folding of the pages it gets harder to
fold but is best
if you take your time.

Used Krylon Glitter Blast Spray to spray paint it (outside
of course). Thank goodness for sunny warmer weather.

Made the star using Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge
.

Decorated with Christmas cord. May embellis
h it more.

Tear off the front & back covers of a paperback book,
leaving the binding intact. Forgot to photo this step.

Fold pages. Using test book pages to demonstrate
each fold so keep in mind your book pages are to
remain attached to the book binding.

Take the top corner of a page and fold it down to
meet the binding.

Then fold the same page down to meet the
binding again.

Turn up the resulting triangle at the bottom
of the page so that it is even with the botto
m
of the book.

Make the same three folds on the next page.

Repeat the folds on every page until the tree
looks generously proportioned - about 150 pages
(double that = 300 pages).

To make things easier, clip folded pages together
as you go.
Found this to make it not easier so I did
not clip the folded
pages together.

Trim the excess pages off the binding by using a
utility knife or box cutter to cut through the spine. I
did not trim excess pages; instead I folded all of them
to make it more full. If you do trim you get a steep
looking tree & I liked the full look better.

Glue first & last pages together so the tree fans around
and stands on its own. I did not need to glue since the
book had heavy weight paper pages and stood on its
own just fine.

Before spray painted.

To decorate trees, mist edges with spray
paint (magazine called for silve
r spray paint
but I liked the green glitter look better).

Decorate & trim the tree.

Aspen Canyon Ranch Skeet Shooting Horseback Scrapbook Layout

Decided to think outside the sport box so to speak when I
chose to create a scrapbook layout for the Bitten by the
Bug 2 Sports Theme challenge.

In Summer of 2005 my family enjoyed a Summer vacation
week at Aspen Canyon Ranch, a Dude Ranch, in CO.

One sport "Annie Oakley" Melissa enjoyed was Skeet
Shooting. I hit one clay pigeon. Had not done skeet shooting
since my younger days when I was growing up on E c
oast of FL.

Other sport Cowgirl Melissa enjoyed was horseback riding on
the trails.
Each person was assigned a horse, mine being Duchess,
and you rode that same horse every day so you got to know the
horse quite well.

Christmas Snowman Globe

Wanted to create a globe for some time.
Created this monochromatic globe card
using Doodlecharms. Welded 2 globes
together. Still learning more about welding
making sure the image overlaps enough
and the x & y coordinates are correct so
both pieces line up back to back for images.
