Some of you may know I have had my kitchen remodeled. We had 1978 yellow sink & yellow laminate countertop/backsplash. Had little countertop space.
Started the process in Nov with hubby designing the new layout.
Decided on Home Depot for demolish & install of new KraftMaid (made in USA) cabinets (color Serenity which is light green/sage) ordered in Dec.
Ordered new appliances (black: Whirpool stainless steel inside dishwasher that has 3 racks and is very quiet, Kraus workstation sink, Flow touchless faucet & GE gas cooktop) online. Dishwasher was last to arrive but we had everything before cabinets arrived.
Cabinets arrived Mar 25 and were put in the POD storage we had reserved & had been delivered earlier that wk.
Demolish of kitchen began Mon Mar 28 and took 1 1/2 days.
Hired our own electrician & gas/water company.
Hubby installed the new GFI code (required by City if remodel near water sources) electrical outlets. Electrician came out and completed install of 2 new dedicated lines (for microwave that was going on a shelf and for refrig that was moving down the wall) in 1/2 day.
Hubby got the gas line set up in attic for hookup. Gas/water company came next day and using our materials & some of theirs installed the converter of 220 to 110 for gas line hubby had bought online (had electric surface cooktop before & was converting to gas cooktop) and new water line for refrig that was moving down the wall and this took 1 1/2 days (1/2 day was for City to pass inspection of gas).
Install of cabinets (they go all the way to the ceiling) and move of former double oven to opposite wall started Mon Apr 4 and along with black handles for doors & drawers was completed in 4 days.
Chose Quartz countertop from a local company and they installed countertops Thurs before Easter. They dropped in new sink & gas cooktop.
During the weekend hubby connected the new dishwasher, new sink & black touchless faucet, gas cooktop and refrig moved to new location.
Was able to use & cook in our kitchen for Easter dinner.
Had 50 Floor come to house Thurs Apr 21 to show us luxury vinyl tile floor. Chose/selected material. Fri Apr 22 we were phoned, told material was in stock so we did not have to wait 3wks +. Install of floor (click & lock style) was done Mon Apr 25.
Hubby is doing the walls: wallpaper & we will look at backsplash of sorts (thinking of a brick pattern) for behind cooktop.
We are happy with the remodel & the work done in what normally takes 3mths or more took 3 wks for majority of from demolish to install of countertops where everything was working.
If you have reached this far then I want you to know my fav part of the kitchen remodel is the appliance lift that takes my Kitchen Aid mixer from the cabinet shelf below and raises it up and the mixer can be used on the raised surface or moved to countertop easily without having to do heavy lifting of mixer no more.
