Created this Father's Day card with a mowing grass theme in mind. I do most of the mowing & hubby does the weed wacking so there will be no mowing on Father's Day. I'll mow tomorrow, Fri.
Amazed myself by using 2 Cake Cricut cartridges to make this. Used Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art for the 2 pieces of grass. Used Holiday Cakes for the word DAD. Used my Gypsy to hide the words 'NO 1' from 'DAD' and place the 'DAD' word inside the grass. Used the negative pieces from the 'DAD' word as in the 3 parts cut out inside the letters to put on the base layer of grass.
Used foam to pop up the one piece of grass over the base layer of grass. Used Tim Holtz evergreen bough on edges of the grass. Used burlap on which I hand wrote 'Happy Father's Day.' Did not have a small Happy Father's Day stamp and was not sure how stamping on burlap would turn out. Has anyone tried to stamp on burlap? Also can embossing powder be used on non-paper products without
burning the item? Want to know if anyone has tried of either of these 2 things?
Used the cut out letters of DAD for the inside.
Wanted to include a lawn mower. Unfortunately the only 2 Cricut cartridges that have lawn mowers both of which I do not have are: Chore Chart & Pop Up Neighborhood. Thought Handyman or Walk in My Garden would but Handyman has only building tools & Walk in My Garden has hand garden tools.
Inside of card:
burlap: mini burlap won challenge at The Kraft Journal & chose different burlap pieces
calligraphy: hand wrote 'Happy Father's Day' on burlap using a calligraphy black marker, one Sharpie I had was too thin & another was too thick
Cricut cartridges:
Holiday Cakes Vacatn2 Plain Base Shift - NO 1 DAD
used Gypsy to hide the 'NO 1' part and place the 'DAD' word inside the grass image
Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art 3" GrassBdr Time for Tea Lowercase - grass image
paper:
5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Base Kraft cardstock
core'dinations 2 shades of green cardstock

I do hope no Father has to mow the lawn on his Father's Day (unless that's something they love doing!) :)
ReplyDeleteI have not stamped on burlap but I have stamped and embossed on canvas and ribbon. It is really no different than doing embossing on paper...you just have to be careful that it doesn't burn. Natural fibers do better, of course, than things like nylon or rayon...I'd be careful on those because they might melt (experience talking here).
I do most of the mowing and hubby does the weed wacking so there will be no mowing on Father's Day. Will mow tomorrow, Fri. Thank you for response on stamping & embossing on other materials.
