Was inspired by a picture of a bicycle in the newspaper that you can see below of a bicycle with Watermelon wheels.
I cannot ride a regular bicycle. Never learned how to ride & not going to learn now. Hubby & I ride a Tandem Bicycle; thus the fondness for Tandem Bicycle images. Our tandem bicycle is black.
Made the background using Tim Holtz Distress Inks. For sky I used 3 shades of blue: faded jeans, salty ocean & tumbled glass. For grass I used TH mowed lawn.
Used memory box die to make the Tandem Bicycle.
Recycled some cardboard from a Kellogg's pkg to make the Bicycle more sturdy.
To give the wheels a Watermelon look I came up with something that I think is quite clever. I cut the wheels out of green & red cardstock. When I cut the wheels out of red cardstock I took a piece of vellum that I had put Scotch ATG adhesive on and placed it onto the memory box Bicycle die and then poked thru the holes of the die to get the red pieces to attach to the vellum with adhesive and it worked. Then I cut the wheels in green and placed the outer part of the wheel in green on top of the red. Used a black Sharpie to give the wheels watermelon seed look.
Bicycle basket has Kraft brown cardstock for front & recycled cardboard for back for depth. To give the Bicycle basket more of a basket look I used an embossing folder on Kraft cardstock. Used foam adhesive in between the Kraft & cardboard to give it depth.
Used foam adhesive to pop up the Bicycle onto the inked background.
Used Cricut cartridge Disney Classics for apples. Apples are cut at 1". Base of apple is black. Used a glue dot to attach apple to the apple black base. Used a poker to push out the tiny piece of the green for the leaf. Used tweezers to pick up the leaf to place on the apple black base. Used tweezers to pick up the stem which is made from Kraft cardstock to place on the apple black base. Stacked the apples in the bicycle basket.
Stamped TPC Studio school sign on Recollections chalkboard cardstock using Colorbox Frost White ink. Used Spellbinder die to cut out sentiment tag sign. Recycled an Outshine wood popsicle stick for sign. Used Tim Holtx Distress Ink on the popsicle stick.
