Hello Kitty Happy Birthday Card

Bought Hello Kitty cartridge last yr, 2010, at a Michaels sale for $9.99 and this is my first creation using it.

Some may know & others may not but I am a pilot of single-engine planes. Back in the 1970s, not sure if they still do this, but when a guy completed solo flight & would be getting his pilot license the back of the shirt you were wearing was ripped & hung up for display and if women wanted to participate in this also they could so yes I did so also. I even did a super duper cross country flight with anotehr person flying a single-engine plane, a Grumman American, from Melbourne, FL to San Louis Obispo CA. I channeled my love of piloting into this creation. Even gave Hello Kitty a silk pilot scarf.

Made this Hello Kitty Birthday Card

HERE TODAY ... pun Card

When I found out that Peachy Keen Stamps new Challenge was So Punny; pun - play on words w/ PK face I had some ideas going thru my head. I thought perhaps I could do something with the Howdy Horse Card but had no face stamp for a horse and would have to add something to put a face on and then an idea came to me. In 2008 my hubby, daughter & I went to Maui Hawaii and I thought about a phrase I heard there so this is what I came up with this layout to put in my Maui Hawaii scrapbook.

HERE TODAY,
GONE TO MAUI !

play on words:

HERE TODAY
GONE TOMORROW

Create a Critter Horse Howdy Card

Started creating this card Fri 7/22/11 after I saw that M.A.G. Challenge by the Page was to use Create a Critter Cricut cartridge page 59 which I'm entering it in.

Challenge #36

For MAG Challenge you cannot use any other Cricut cartridge or page from another cartridge, only the one specified. However, you are free to use all the embellishments and other treasure from your stash!!

Decorate to Celebrate Challenge #4 - Kid's Birthday Themed Party

Challenge #4 -- Kid-Themed Birthday Party

I first cut the images: horse and layers and not the bandana & not the shadow, horseshoe and made the top of horseshoe red, and the phrase out of red gingham paper. Decided to add the bandana out of the same red gingham paper that phrase was cut out of. Decided to change the top of horseshoe to yellow so it would stand out more. Decided to give the bandana more sturdiness and since I figured I would use foam adhesives on it on the horse I added a red piece of the bandana to the back of the red gingham paper. I made a phrase out of red since there was no shadow for the phrase and this also gave the phrase out of red gingham more sturdiness like the bandana.

I had no idea that I would put the images on a stair step card let alone learn how to make a stair step card. Watched a video and after 2 tries I got the stair step card made. 1st try I had the 2 slits cut correct but did not have the scoring correct. Had one more piece of the HayStack paper like I used in my Down on the Farm scrapbook layout. Decided to use Denim looking paper as border on sides of Hay Stack of stair step card. This project was growing but I'm so happy with the way it turned out and I learned so much in the process.

Create a Critter Cricut cart page 59:
3" horse incl Layer 1-3 of which the bandana is Layer 3 and shadow,
4 1/2" accessory horseshoe &
2 1/2" phrase Howdy

Stair step card base 5 1/2" x 11" white cardstock
lay the paper with 11" as horizontal to make the slits
cut 2 slits 1" from each side going from 1" to 6 1/2" - used my new Fiskars trimmer that allows you to see the paper and lift up on the cutter so that you only cut the part you want to like in making slits which cannot be done with a regular trimmer that would cut from end to end

Used Martha Stewart score board to do the scoring:
1" from side from top of card to slit & from bottom slit to bottom of card
2" from side from top of card to slit & from bottom slit to bottom of card
5 1/2" between slit to slit
6 1/2" all the way from top to bottom

Paper:
Base 5 1/2" x 11" white cardstock
Colorbok Hay Stacks
Sandylion Denim Paper
the Paper Studio Red Gingham
black, 3 shades of brown, red, yellow

black marker to color horse's: eyes, nostrils & mouth

foam adhesives to give 3D look to horse & horseshoe, mini pop dots to adhere the phrase to top

May add some natural color twine or rope to this.

Sweethearts Tandem Bike Card

Created this Tandem Bike card using Sweethearts Cricut cartridge. When I bought the cartridge last yr I wanted it specifically for the tandem bike cut. Some of you may know & other may not but I tell people I can pilot a single-engine plane but cannot ride a regular bike unless it is a tandem bike like one that hubby & I have. I had a tricycle when younger that was red. Growing up we lived off a highway and older sister got a regular bike but I did not and did not get a chance to learn to ride. Later after college I took flying lessons; thus reason why I can pilot a single-engine plane.

Sweethearts Cricut cartridge bike 3"

Used paper: 2 shades of blue, 2 shades of green & white that were in 2011 Online Summer Card Camp Wk 4 (last wk) color palette.

Used a couple of stickers: 2 flowers & basket decor (all in same color palette)

Jolly Holidays Penguin with Umbrella Christmas Card Using 2011 Summer Online Ink Emboss Folder Technique

Created this Christmas Card of Penguin with Umbrella using Jolly Holidays Cricut cartridge and 2011 Summer Online Ink Emboss Folder technique.

Used a technique new to me from 2011 Online Summer Card Class. Technique is to ink an embossing folder (female side which is the side with the word Cuttlebug or Sizzix on it) and then place paper inside embossing folder to emboss. The ink is transferred to the paper surrounding the raised edges. You can also ink the male side for a debossed look.

'Preserving' my Garden Memories Scrapbook Layout

Made this scrapbook layout of my Cantaloupe garden that my hubby worked so hard to build in a raised garden bed using cedar wood. Hubby found out that treated lumber chemicals that it is treated with is not good for some plants. Titled the scrapbook layout 'Preserving' my Garden Memories because I used the Preserves Cricut cartridge for the cantaloupe & 'melon' wording die cuts. Started working on the scrapbook layout 7/12/11 & finished it today 7/15/11.
